Good health is the foundation for a strong community. Without it, people struggle to work, learn and thrive. Access to affordable care and the knowledge to make healthy choices are essential for a good quality of life.
Cedar Valley United Way is committed to improving the overall health and well-being of our community by:
- Empowering individuals and families by reducing substance abuse, child abuse and domestic violence
- Expanding access to health education and preventive care including mental health services
- Supporting maternal health and infant well-being
Our investments are making a measurable difference.

- An estimated 29,000 adults in Black Hawk County will experience a mental health episode during their lifetime.
- Iowa ranks last in the nation for the number of state psychiatric beds - only 2 per 100,000 residents, with 1.2 reserved for forensic patients.
