WATERLOO, IA—The community is invited to attend the Rally for the Valley, Cedar Valley United Way’s annual campaign kick-off. This year will mark the 90th anniversary and the impact United Way and the supporters have had in the community. The luncheon event will be held Wednesday, August 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the 5 Sullivan Brothers Convention Center, Waterloo.
2013 campaign chairs Geof Grimes and Joe Vich will officially kick-off the campaign. Special guest Judson Laipply, known for his Evolution of Dance, will be the keynote, helping celebrate 90 years of impact and getting attendees ready for the next 90 years. To date Laipply’s Evolution of Dance has been viewed over 150 million times on YouTube and is the third most popular video of all time on the site. The popularity of the video has led to appearances on the Today Show, Ellen, Inside Edition, E!, Oprah, and hundreds of other media outlets around the world.
During the event, guests will have the chance to purchase a balloon for $10. At the end of the event, balloons will be popped to reveal prizes inside including tickets to theater and sporting events, gift cards to area restaurants and stores as well as merchandise donated by area businesses.
All money raised during the Rally for the Valley will go toward the Cedar Valley United Way campaign. For the 2013-2014 year, Cedar Valley United Way provided over $2 million in funding to programs throughout the Cedar Valley that focuses on education, income and health.
